Soot removal by spraying

The Forensic Science Service UK have pioneered a technique using ISOMARK to remove smoke and soot from a crime scene and enable fingerprints to be revealed. The technique involves spraying a thin ‘skin’ of ISOMARK over a crime scene, such as a burnt out motor vehicle.

Once cured, the resulting thin ISOMARK ‘skin’ is peeled off and can reveal latent finger marks. In some instances the ISOMARK ‘skin’ itself casts marks of a good enough quality for examination.

Being non-water based, ISOMARK does not damage the marks.
